The Long-Term Resident (LTR) Visa is a 10-year Thai residency programme targeting four categories of foreign nationals: wealthy global citizens, wealthy pensioners, work-from-Thailand professionals and highly-skilled professionals. It includes a digital work permit for qualifying applicants and tax incentives for eligible categories.
The Thailand Long-Term Resident (LTR) Visa is a programme that grants the right to stay in Thailand for 10 years. The 10-year visa is divided into two 5-year terms: applicants are granted the initial permission to stay in the country for 5 years, which can be extended for 5 more years. The total length of stay shall not exceed 10 years.
To apply, you must qualify under one of four official LTR categories: Wealthy Global Citizens, Wealthy Pensioners, Work-from-Thailand Professionals, or Highly-Skilled Professionals. Each category has its own documented financial or professional thresholds.
The government processing fee is THB 50,000 per person. A multiple re-entry permit is included with the visa, and LTR holders only need to report once per year instead of every 90 days. Result notification is typically issued within 20 business days of submission.

FAQ
LTR Visa: common questions
How long is the LTR Visa valid?
10 years, granted as an initial 5-year visa, renewable for a further 5 years subject to continued eligibility.
Can I work in Thailand on the LTR Visa?
Yes, for qualifying categories. The LTR includes a digital work permit that replaces the standard Labour-Department work-permit process.
What about taxes?
Tax treatment is not the same for every category. The Highly Skilled Professional category (LTR-H) benefits from a 17% flat personal income tax on Thailand-sourced income but does not qualify for an exemption on worldwide income. The other three categories (wealthy global citizens, wealthy pensioners and work-from-Thailand professionals) benefit from a tax exemption on worldwide income but are not eligible for the 17% flat rate.
Can my family join me?
Yes. Eligible dependants are the legally-married spouse (common-law marriages are not accepted), children under 20 years old, parents and other legal dependants. There is no limit on the number of dependants per applicant. The THB 50,000 processing fee applies per person.
Do I have to live in Thailand full-time?
No, but LTR holders are subject to annual reporting and must maintain the eligibility conditions of their category. We brief you on the practical obligations.
Can I switch from the Privilege Card to the LTR Visa later?
Yes, if you qualify under one of the LTR categories. The Privilege Card and LTR are independent programmes, but switching is possible at the point of application.
What if my situation changes during the 10 years?
The LTR Visa is conditional on continued eligibility. Material changes, e.g. loss of employment or change of category, should be discussed with us promptly to avoid renewal issues at the 5-year mark.
